Boston Express Bus Goes Live with Gateway's Galaxy for Transportation Software

Boyertown, PA – (February, 2008) Boston Express Bus, Inc, a transportation company located in southern New Hampshire, was the first Gateway Ticketing Systems customer to go live with Gateway’s newly released Galaxy for Transportation product.

Boston Express, a subsidiary of longtime Gateway customer Concord Coach Lines, provides direct bus service to Boston and Boston Logan Airport from their Nashua, NH terminal. Prior to the installation of Galaxy for Transportation, Boston Express had been successfully using Gateway’s DOS-based TX3280 system.

“The TX3280 software was fast, reliable, and absolutely outstanding,” said James Osborne, Manager at Boston Express. “Our main motivation for upgrading was to be able to take advantage of the other Windows-based modules that Galaxy has to offer. In our next phase of the upgrade we’re planning to go with Gateway’s eGalaxy Web Store and Order Entry,” he said.

Galaxy for Transportation is a comprehensive Point of Sale (POS) system developed specifically for the transportation industry. The software is the product of twenty years of software development and extends to self-service ticket kiosks and online sales.

It’s not just the managers at Boston Express who are happy with the new system. The user-friendly interface of Galaxy for Transportation has ticket sellers talking about it too. “Transactions are faster, so I can help move customers through more quickly. It keeps the lines much shorter,” said ticket agent Chris McInnis.

Don Darroch, General Manager of Gateway’s Canadian Office says “James has done an excellent job in setting up Boston Express’ fares and system configurations. The Galaxy training he attended in the later part of 2007 put him at a definite advantage. He has also put a tremendous effort into the database configurations and training of his staff, “ he said.

Osborne’s desire to start using Galaxy for Transportation as soon as possible was one of the driving forces behind this successful installation, reports Darroch. “James has been working with Galaxy for Transportation almost every day, and his dedication to the project along with his rapid understanding of the software has been outstanding. We at Gateway are looking forward to the continued success of Boston Express and to beginning installations for Concord Coach Lines,” he said.

Osborne looks forward to it as well. He said, “Working with Gateway has been a great experience. I have enjoyed being at the front-end of a company-wide project. Phase two of the installation, including online sales options with eGalaxy Web Store are top priorities for the company this year.”
