Boyertown, PA – (September, 2008) Gateway Ticketing Systems, Inc., the world leader in high-speed admission control and ticketing software for the attraction, amusement, and intercity bus transportation industries, is providing a comprehensive ticketing solution for the newly rebuilt California Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Galaxy’s full range of ticket sales and access control solutions were implemented at the grand opening of CAS. These include Galaxy Point of Sale, Order Entry, Resource Management, Kiosk, eGalaxy Web Store, RE Console, and wireless admission control and mobile ticketing.
“This is a very cutting-edge system designed for a facility that is one of the most technologically enabled in the industry. They’ve installed the latest in network technology and communication infrastructure,” says Bill Post, Project Manager at Gateway. “The new CAS will have a significant impact on the science center industry because it has set a new standard in technology.”
CAS was looking for a ticketing and admission control solution to match the technical sophistication of their new facility. Gateway was able to provide this for CAS and meet their ticketing needs by leveraging the power of Galaxy and its suite of integrated products.
Ticket sales and admission are faster and more convenient for guests at the main entrance with the use of a number of kiosks. A Mobile Membership Sales station, using lightweight Tablet PC’s will facilitate membership sales and reduce wait times in line. These mobile sales stations enable a ticket seller to swipe a California driver’s license to collect the information necessary for pass sales, then swipe a credit card for payment. In addition, CAS offers online and PrintAtHome tickets through eGalaxy Web Store.
To maintain the center’s beautiful aesthetics, wireless handheld scanners are being implemented at the main entrance for ticket validation, instead of turnstiles. Sales for school groups, tour groups and special events will be processed by the back office using Order Entry and Resource Management.
Post said, “The final solution covers all areas of ticketing, such as onsite sales, which include front gate, call center and kiosk, as well as online sales.” He added, “Gateway is also providing onsite support services to help CAS manage the go-live.”
“We’re excited to be a part of this industry-leading installation, and happy to take part in such a successful go-live.”
