Daytona 500 Experience Expands Its Box Office to the Web with Gateway Ticketing Systems

Boyertown, PA - (March 2009) International Speedway Corporation (ISC), current Gateway Ticketing Systems customer and owner of Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, recently expanded their ticketing revenue management toolset to include Gateway’s eGalaxy Web Store.

ISC owns and operates the official attraction of NASCAR, the Daytona 500 Experience, located in Daytona Beach, Florida. With the Daytona 500 approaching quickly, they wanted to add the functionality of eGalaxy Web Store to broaden their ability to sell tickets for the event. The attraction offers interactive experiences, including driving simulators, track tours and driving with the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

Christy Xynidis, Senior Manager of Ticketing at the Daytona 500 Experience, said, “We wanted to expand our sales channels and are constantly looking for ways to improve the overall customer experience. Now our customers not only have the convenience of purchasing and printing their tickets online, but they can also immediately enter the attraction and avoid any lines.”

“The Daytona 500 Experience elected to add eGalaxy Web Store to their ticketing system in order to increase potential sales, while taking advantage of a solution fully integrated with their in-house Galaxy system,” said Doug Beermann, Gateway Project Manager.

“Now if a customer buys a ticket on the Web Store, they can print their bar-coded ticket at home, and bring it directly to the turnstile; or they can walk in and the cashier can immediately pull up the order in the system and print the tickets. They have literally extended their live box office function to anyone with access to the Internet,” Beermann said.

Prior to proceeding with the addition of eGalaxy Web Store, ISC reviewed the product in depth to ensure that it met all of the needs of the company. They had several particular requirements and were planning unique ticket configurations as well as a specific look and feel for their online ticketing channel. Gateway was able to meet these needs with eGalaxy Web Store.

eGalaxy Web Store is integrated with ISC’s existing Galaxy ticketing system, and links directly to their main Web site. Adding eGalaxy Web Store’s functionality enables them to sell one-day general admission tickets, annual passes, and multiple attraction combination offerings directly from their Galaxy database.

Xynidis said, “Gateway is constantly looking for ways to improve their application, and they do a great job of accommodating their customers. Few applications offer Point of Sale, Order Entry, Pass, Resource Management, deferred, disbursed, multi-park, and Web Store functions - all in one application.”

“We worked together well with ISC to make this a successful go-live,” said Beermann. “They attended training on-site at Gateway months before the actual go-live, and that definitely made the process go more smoothly. Also, because we were able to achieve the look and feel of the Web Store the client required, they were satisfied with the end result,” he said.

“I feel Galaxy has aligned well with our business needs. I am very excited to see what the future holds,” Xynidis added.
