Boyertown, PA - (December, 2003) The Nasher Sculpture Center - located in Dallas, Texas - opened its doors in October of 2003 exposing the world to its devoted exhibition, study, and preservation of modern and contemporary sculpture.
Located in the heart of the arts district directly across from the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center has already made quite an impact on the city and world. Before viewing the beauty housed within, one cannot
help but marvel at the building itself and the vast, innovative landscaping that adorns its perimeter. Although just completed, the combination of the structure and its landscaping has placed the Nasher Sculpture Center on the list of some of the most architecturally renowned buildings in the world.
The center was originally conceived as an urban retreat for the enjoyment of modern art and serves as the new home to the prominent Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection of modern and contemporary sculpture. The Nashers have
been accumulating their remarkable collection since 1954. Raymond Nasher began planning the construction of the Nasher Sculpture Center in 1997 after displaying portions of their collection in several Museums world-wide. Some
of those included were the Dallas Museum of Art, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia of Madrid, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum of New York among others.
In planning such a grand edifice, the Nashers left no detail to chance, especially not when it came to the revenue management and admission control system. After thoroughly researching every available option and
interviewing multiple other attractions including the neighboring Dallas Museum of Art, the one choice that stood clear was Gateway Ticketing Systems, Inc.
According to Gateway project manager Brian MacDonald; this install required some flexibility on behalf of Gateway. "Nasher signed their order on September 13th (2003) and the center was scheduled to open on October 20th
(2003)," said MacDonald. "Ideally we like to have customers attend a one week comprehensive training course at our world headquarters (in Boyertown, PA), and do an additional week of training onsite. Time did not allow for that with Nasher," he continued.
"Myray Vendrell, Gateway software specialist and field trainer, completed training onsite in one week in order to stay within the required timeline," MacDonald reflected.
According to MacDonald, the install included four front gate timed ticketing systems with scanning, group sales and resource management modules, and various system administration and reporting systems. In coming months,
Nasher will also be implementing the eGalaxy solution offered by Gateway that directly interfaces the center's Galaxy POS system with their own website to offer visitors quick and secure online ticketing options.
"The people that we worked with at Nasher were very complimentary of our quickness to react and to provide answers and solutions," said MacDonald. "Superior customer service is a critical factor in the computerized software
and hardware industry. This has always been Gateway's key to keeping our customers happy and, as a result, our business continues to grow from enthusiastic referrals," he concluded.
