Casco Bay Lines And Gateway Ticketing Systems Keep Portland’s Casco Bay Moving

BOYERTOWN, PA - (July, 2004) Casco Bay Island Transit District (Casco Bay Lines) of Portland, Maine has recently upgraded their ticketing system to Gateway Ticketing Systems’ Galaxy 2 admission control and revenue management solution. Galaxy 2 was released in March of this year. Since Casco Bay lines has been using Gateway Ticketing Systems’ legacy DOS product, AX1180, since 1989 - the natural solution to their upgrade needs was to call on Gateway Ticketing once again.

Casco Bay Island Transit District was formed in 1981 under emergency legislation by the State of Maine as a non-profit entity to provide reliable transportation to and from the islands of Casco Bay,

Maine. The islands served by Casco Bay Lines are Peaks, Little Diamond, Great Diamond, Cliff, Town of Long Island and Great Chebeague Island.

Being open 365 days a year, with almost 1 million passengers and 25 thousand vehicles being transported annually - a solid; extremely dependable, ticketing system is an absolute must. Gateway Ticketing Solutions was up for the challenge.

“It was critical that our ticketing system was dependable, easy to use, and could quickly process our customers”, said Roki Horr, Assistant Operations Manager for Casco Bay Lines. Horr continued, “Gateway Ticketing Systems’ Galaxy 2 met those requirements fully. The program is also instinctive to use, which is a time saving asset for training. Basically, Galaxy 2 was plug and play – we went from the shipping box to ticket sales almost immediately. I highly recommend Gateway Ticketing Systems for any venue that requires rapid ticketing.”

After only 3 days of onsite setup, configuration, and training Mark Gradwell, Account Representative for Gateway Ticketing Systems, had Casco Bay Lines up and running well with the Galaxy 2 upgrade. “Casco Bay Lines operates from 4:00 AM until well after midnight, so we had to install the upgrade in the middle of the day. Within 30 minutes, Galaxy 2 was in place and they were selling tickets”, said Gradwell. “Everyone was quite pleased how quickly their ticket sellers transitioned into the new system. The user friendly interface, combined with the touch screen support will speed up transaction time considerably”, Gradwell concluded.

Casco Bay Lines also offers private cruises for parties, company events, wedding receptions and more. Groups from 25 to 275 can be accommodated, plus room for a band or DJ and a full dance floor. For more information on Casco Bay Lines visit http://www.cascobaylines.com.
