Galaxy Grand Opening for Castaway Cove Water Park

Boyertown, PA – (October, 2004) Castaway Cove Water Park, a 15 acre facility overlooking the Wichita Falls, Texas skyline, opened its doors this summer with Gateway Ticketing Systems Galaxy 2 admission control and revenue management solution. Castaway Cove IT Manager, Scott Cannaday commented, “ We knew to have a successful first year, we didn't need any ticketing or revenue management problems. With the accolades given by other users, the choice seemed obvious - go with Gateway - and we did.”

The new $5.5 million dollar tropical themed Castaway Cove Water Park features waterslides off 40 foot and 50 foot towers, interactive Kiddie Park, Lazy River floating stream, Tidal Wave Pool, concerts and much more. Holding true to the tropical theme, the water park even has expansion plans that will showcase a "natural" habitat of parrots and offers feeding and handling schedules for families to observe and learn about tropical birds.

Cannaday continued, “Castaway Cove Water Park was a completely new project -- literally from the ground up. We reviewed offerings from several vendors, and the Gateway Ticketing product always came back as "top-of-the-line". Other entertainment venues using Gateway all said the Gateway/Galaxy product was the best, support was the excellent, and implementation was fully supported with on-site personnel.”

Castaway Cove ticket sellers were equipped with four front gate ticketing systems with photo pass module and one photo pass point of sale system with order entry. The Galaxy Photo Module provided Castaway Cove Water Park with the ability to create and manage barcode or magnetic striped photo identification cards produced on a media conducive for water parks. The installation also included two back office administration point of sale systems, one concentrator/payment server, as well as SQL server. Due to Galaxy 2’s new open architecture and Unified POS Device support, Castaway Cove was able to supply their own computer systems and peripheral hardware such as receipt printers and scanners.

Brian MacDonald, Gateway Ticketing Systems Project Manager, stated, “The park needed a system that was cutting edge and stable enough to grow with the park, the industry and future technology. Castaway Cove saw Gateway Ticketing Systems as a provider that can offer all of these requirements, while also offering the easiest and most cost effective solutions to implement.”

Gateway Ticketing Systems completed the installation on time, enabling Castaway Cove to start selling memberships prior to the rain delayed grand opening. Scott Cannaday added, “Over the three months of our short summer season, Gateway performed! And today, I believe a critical piece of this performance was the installation support provided by Brian MacDonald, Project Manager. His knowledge, experience, and attitude in the two on-site installation visits made program set-up and the "go live" experience one of the easiest in which I have ever been involved.”

Cannaday concluded, “The old adage "you get what you pay for" certainly holds true when you work with Gateway. A top-notch product, great on-site and telephone support, and easy operation was what we wanted ... and that's what we got with Brian MacDonald and Gateway.”
