Gateway Ticketing Systems Is Top Choice For Louisiana State Museum

Boyertown, PA - (October, 2004) Louisiana State Museum, New Orleans' most prominent heritage attraction, recently went live with Gateway Ticketing Systems' Galaxy point of sale solution. Leonard T. Lewis III, Administrative Manager for the Louisiana State Museum, said, "The Louisiana State Museum selected Gateway Ticketing because we found that Galaxy would provide us with the most flexible and cost effective way to upgrade from our vintage cash registers and pre-printed tickets for admissions as well as a calendar system for group reservations."

The Louisiana State Museum (http://lsm.crt.state.la.us) is made up of 11 properties containing thousands of artifacts and works of art reflecting Louisiana's legacy of historic events and cultural diversity. The flagship building of the historical museum complex, the Cabildo, was the site of the Louisiana Purchase Transfer and later served as the home of the Louisiana Supreme Court. Other museums detail historical arsenals, banks, libraries and the story of Mardi Gras. The Louisiana State Museum also boasts impressive collections highlighting visual arts, jazz, costume and textile as well as science and technology.

Three museums within the complex, the Cabildo, the Presbytere and the Old U.S. Mint are now operating Gateway Ticketing Systems' latest admission control and revenue management solution. The point of sale systems were also configured with the ability to sell tickets for numerous other attractions inside the complex. Plans are in place to install the Galaxy point of sale system in other locations operated by the Louisiana State Museum. Lewis stated, "We were looking for a system that could start out in three of our New Orleans locations, but also be installed in four new facilities across the state that will be opening over the next three years and have those new installations be integrated with the buildings already online."

Included in the installation were group sales, system administrator and back office Galaxy modules. This enables the museum staff to benefit from seamless control and user-friendly reporting features. Brian MacDonald, Gateway Ticketing Systems' project manager, said, "The group sales staff, as well as the ticket agents, were thrilled with the end-of-day reports and noted that their workload has diminished in cashing out and invoicing."

Lewis commented on the installation and his overall experience with Gateway Ticketing Systems, "Working with Gateway Ticketing and Brian MacDonald, in particular, was wonderful." Lewis concluded, "Brian made sure we understood what was going on every step of the way and treated the staff here with the utmost respect."

Gateway Ticketing Systems and The Big Easy New Orleans is becoming a familiar destination for Gateway Ticketing Systems and its Galaxy point of sale solution. Louisiana State Museum's Leonard Lewis said, "Luckily, there are two other excellent museums in New Orleans also using Galaxy so we were also able to do a little surveillance on Galaxy ahead of making our decision."

The completion of the Louisiana State Museum Project marks the third, fourth and fifth museums that are now operating with the Galaxy point of sale solution within the city of New Orleans. Gateway Ticketing Systems' Brian MacDonald commented, "This project yet again displays Galaxy on the market and how the proverbial chain effect is taking place as, one by one, the client base in this city is looking for consistency and a superior product."
